Basic information
The castle is the pride of the village of Topoľčianky, which lies north of Zlaté Moraviec in the west of Slovakia.
It is also known for being the residence of the granddaughter of Emperor Francis Joseph I and Empress Sisi - Augusta Habsburg and her family. The castle was also regularly visited by the first president of Czechoslovakia, T.G. Masaryk. Every year he looked forward to summer, because he loved the ripe, sunny Páľava, the wine of the local winemakers. That's why he liked Topoľčianky the most out of all places. Here he had his favorite places - the ruins of Hrušov Castle, Karlova dolina, where he went out on his horse Hektor or on a carriage pulled by Lipizzaners. Count Keglevich, one of the owners, had the southern Renaissance wing demolished in the 19th century and replaced by a classicist tract.Due to its beauty, artistic and historical value, the Castle in Topoľčianki is currently considered the most beautiful, purest architectural expression of classicism and is included among the National Cultural Monuments.
